Boozhoo, Wachiiye, Anii!

I would like to respectfully acknowledge that the land I am living and creating on, here in Northern Ontario on Treaty 9, is the traditional and ancestral territory of the Anishinaabeg Algonquin people. It is also the home of the Ojibwe/Chippewa,  OjiCree, Omashkiigoog (Cree) and Metis nations. I offer my deepest gratitude and respect to the Elders, past and present, and to all Indigenous peoples who have cared for this land since time immemorial. The Indigenous people of this land are not only generous benefactors of the resources it provides, but they are also our friends, teachers, neighbours, co-workers, and family.

The Origins of The Merry Medium

Hello, I’m Tracy, and if there is one thing I believe, it’s that the best medicine—spiritual or physical—is often humour. I call it the seventh sense. The mission of The Merry Medium is to blend the practical wisdom I’ve gathered from a life of healing with the intuitive path I’ve walked for over four decades, all with a healthy dose of joy.

The Compassion of a Nurse: My Dual Path

For decades, my foundation has been built on the practical, grounded value of caring for others as a Registered Practical Nurse in a small community clinic. In this career, I have witnessed some very heavy moments. I am fortunate to work with colleagues who instinctively understand the value of living in the moment, and we often use laughter to lighten the load—humour as medicine.

I discovered early that my role extended beyond the clinical. There are times a patient will come to me, and I can intuitively get to the root of the issue, using empathy and compassion to help them to solve difficult challenges and thus offer relief. This dual path of practical care and spiritual insight is the heart of every service I offer.

My Intuitive Awakening

The path from nurse to Tarot master wasn't a straight line, but it was filled with purpose. My Reiki Master attunement profoundly shifted my perspective on energy and healing. This exploration led me to delve deeper into the mystical arts, eventually leading me to share my gifts as the Merry Medium.

It all began on my 15th birthday when my mother gifted me a set of Aquarian Tarot cards. (She later confessed she was worried I was on a "dark path" and hoped they would guide me toward enlightenment—spoiler, she was right!)

In my 20s, reading for friends turned into reading for strangers, which was incredibly validating. Being able to tell people things I had no way of knowing cemented my confidence in the cards. When I do a reading today, I trust the cards to follow the querent's most predominant energy and clearly address it.

It was also in my 20s that anxiety attacks led me to meditation and self-hypnosis as a tool for relaxation. It became a powerful practice that also dramatically increased my intuitive connection. For a short time in my 30s, I even worked professionally and was ranked in the top 3 spiritual advisors on Keen in the UK before life changes took me in another direction.

Reiki and My Books

My books, "Modern Meditations" and "Vibrant Vitality," stem from my own personal journey to find balance and well-being. I wanted to create resources that offer practical guidance and inspiration for anyone seeking to navigate the complexities of modern life with grace and resilience.

I returned to nursing in my 40s to finish what I had started as a teenager, but the demanding, full-time schedule eventually overwhelmed me. I realized I was "faking it" sometimes—I had stopped taking care of my happy self. I had forgotten to put my own oxygen mask on.

The lightbulb moment came when I saw an Abraham Hicks video about the importance of daily meditation. I immediately committed to Dr. Chopra's 21-day challenge, and the practice took off again. I now dedicate 30 minutes every day to caring for my mind.

This experience led directly to my books:

  • The Merry Medium: Modern Meditations reminds me of how easy and beneficial this practice is, and is a guide for sharing that ease with others.

  • The Merry Medium: Vibrant Vitality was born when I became obsessed with the word "Vibrance." I outlined what vitality meant to me, connecting my experience as a nurse, my earlier learning about therapeutic touch, and my recent work as a Reiki Master (which I now use regularly on myself and family). The books are a testament to the fact that when you change your energy, you change your life.

Finding Balance in the North

Life in Northern Ontario with my husband offers a grounding contrast to the energetic world of readings and writing. Whether it's crafting, spending time in nature, or simply enjoying the quiet moments, the peace and beauty of the North renew my spirit. This connection to the earth is essential for balancing my energy and informing my work as the Merry Medium.

My home life provides the perfect backdrop for balancing the spiritual with the everyday. Living in a small community means I commute 70 km daily through wilderness, which grounds me in the natural world.

I love being outdoors—kayaking, sitting by the water to hear the waves, and enjoying the bird songs in the spring. Though I don't have them right now, my deep love for horses and dogs reminds me that connecting with nature's energy is the simplest form of self-care.

My mission is to help you find your unique path to a more joyful life, guided by both grounded wisdom and luminous insight.

I invite you to explore my books and services, and let's write your next chapter together!
